Kalmadi gets Hyderabadi tigers for CWG

In fact, in contrast to just about everything that is running behind schedule, the tigers have arrived on time. 23 of them, from Hyderabad. Kalmadi will hope Shera, the mascot for the Games, will drown every other noise of dissent with his roar.
“There were no kickbacks,” joked Bhanu Nagender, the CEO of Inflatable Ideas. “We got the order to provide 23 fur costumes in mid-July and we handed them all by end of July. Some of them were in fact sent to Kolkota to be part of the Queen’s baton relay.”

Each of the 6-feet tall fur costumes made with synthetic fur imported from Malaysia cost 11000 rupees, a small order for this company with a turnover of 5 crore rupees per annum.

This 10-year-old company made its name manufacturing the inflatables of Mello, the mascot for the Cricket World Cup in 2007 and hopes to repeat the feat with Stumpy, the elephant, that is the mascot for the 2011 World Cup.
