In the line of fire

By Uma Sudhir

Andhra Pradesh’s DGP Aravinda Rao minced no words when he called the constable’s act `stupid’. But what a price the two families in Khammam have paid for the `stupidity’ of the policeman, ironically in a week the state police observes to remember its own, who died in the line of fire, while doing their duty.

  1. Serenity Stupidity says:

    Dear Uma,

I had over-heard by chance, a local channel mentioning, almost passingly, about some compensation. It was a bulletin, and not “normal” coverage. I was trying to catch up your report.

I saw your report, on NDTV, a few minutes ago. This “stupidity”, is really numbing, and silencing. I think the DGP himself was shocked and so could not help, but use the S word.

I feel really grotesque, about the way this police martyrs week has gone wrong. I had a lump in the throat, for all the families of policemen too.
