Hyderabad’s mirror in the sky

By T S Sudhir

The Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad, known as the Mirror of the sky, is now open to the public as a Taj heritage hotel after 10 years of restoration.

This Nizam property is a 60 room hotel, spread over 32 acres.

The palace even had a petrol pump for fuelling a fleet of vintage cars.

This was the palace where the Nizam’s guests used to stay, like the Prince of Wales.

The dining hall has the world’s longest dining table, made in seven pieces which can seat 101 people at a time. (see photograph)

The library at this palace … had over 59000 books .. including some very rare books.
